ARTIST STATEMENT
This concept is a direct follow on from my previous exhibition titled 'Spiritualised'. In a philosophical sense, one might perceive "spiritualised" as the realm of ideas, beliefs, and aspirations, while "materialised" represents their expression or realisation in the physical world. They are interconnected facets of existence, with the spiritual providing the impetus or inspiration for material manifestation.
In the context of art, the relationship between spiritualised and materialised can be explored through the depiction of abstract concepts or emotions (spiritualised) translated into tangible forms, colours, and compositions (materialised) on canvas.
Making the spirit tangible.
I’m capturing the intricate dance between light, colour, and form, as they converge to materialise the essence of landscapes. This theme of materialisation goes beyond mere representation; it delves into the metaphysical to render the intangible tangible, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the visceral experience of Scotland’s rugged coastlines.

I love Scott Naismith’s work.
I have only been ‘introduced’ to his painting recently: his use of colour is mesmerising .
I live in Essex and wondered if there is anywhere near that have examples of his work for me to see
Thank you
